WEDDING: MICHELLE+CHRISTIAN

I typically don’t get many opportunities to work on foliage-inspired weddings, so I jumped at the chance to work on Christian and Michelle’s forest-themed wedding solemnisation.

The couple came to me with their wedding invitation, which had a beautiful arch on it, decorated with flowing greens and two brown deer horns. I took it as cue for my design and put together a proposal based on that image. I sent my husband Tim out forage for ingredients, and he brought back big beautiful dried branches, which reflected the horns in the invitation. This was the base for the arch, which included plenty of various types of greenery, weeds and grasses, white flowers, with accents of browns, sand and beige and draping light white cloth – just as the image in their invitation.

Michelle’s bouquet was probably the most unusual piece I’ve made to date: a wild yet classy cascade that runs all the way to the floor. I loved it so much! For the dinner setup we opted for wild and playful table arrangements, with some weeds, vines and dried grasses. All the arrangements were taken home by the guests!
