WEDDING: ZHENG KAI+YVONNE

‘Forest in the room’. This was probably my greenest wedding ever, as the theme implies. For the past year or more I had been doing ‘almost no greens’ weddings and keeping to my colour palettes as closely as I could. Not because I don’t like greens – I love them, but I always have the urge to try something new and bring fresh ideas to the look. This wedding reminded me of how beautiful greens can be and how easy it is to use them to play with textures.
If you can imagine the sweetest couple who are a real breeze to work with, that’s Chok and Yvonne. They came to me well prepared with a mood board, theme and colours inspired by their recent travel to Japan: concrete, textures, greenery and tamed wildness. A theme so gorgeous that I immediately dived in!
I created a forest for Yvonne & Chok’s solenization: lush foliage, painted leaves, air plants, my beloved anthuriums (which I also couldn’t resist painting), and all that jazz. And, as known, I always encourage repurposing flowers, which we did for this wedding as well – all the arrangements from the solemnization were moved to the reception and photobooth areas, thanks to @tweedtwigs for the help with that! And not to mention all the other amazing professionals I got a chance to work with on this beautiful day.
