WORKSHOP: A Sunday Well Spent — Mother's Day Spring Florals

Workshop Recap · 10 May 2026 · Frankie & Fern's Rooftop, Holland Village

There's something quietly magical about putting flowers in your hands and being told: here's a bunch of beautiful things — make something from them.

Last Sunday afternoon, a wonderful group of us gathered at the rooftop terrace at Frankie & Fern's and spent the golden hours of Mother's Day weekend doing exactly that. The May sunshine was soft, the pastries were excellent, and the flowers were so sweet.

This workshop was one of our favourite kinds: a mix of mums and daughters, solo floral-curious adventurers, and people gifting an experience instead of a thing. Everyone arrived as a beginner and left carrying something genuinely beautiful they'd made themselves. That never gets old.

The Setting

Hosting at Frankie & Fern's rooftop in Holland Village always feels like a treat. There's an easy warmth to the space, and the team there took care of everyone beautifully — an assortment of pastries and cakes were laid out alongside coffee and tea, so guests could sip and nibble while they worked.

What We Made

This session was all about spring flowers in soft, garden-inspired tones — the kind of arrangement that looks effortless but has a little intentional structure underneath. Each guest worked with a curated selection of seasonal fresh blooms and foliage arranged into a vessel they could take home.

Flowers and colour palettes shift with the seasons, which means every workshop produces something slightly different — and every arrangement is genuinely one-of-a-kind. That's one of the things we love most about working with fresh, seasonal blooms.

The ideas of texture and movement are easier to understand when you're actually holding the stems — and within about twenty minutes, everyone had found their rhythm.

The Best Part

Honestly? Watching people admiring their creations. There's a particular kind of satisfaction that comes with carrying something you made — especially when it's full of flowers and you weren't quite sure you could do it an hour earlier.

Thank you to every guest who joined me for this one. It was a genuinely lovely afternoon, and I am so glad you spent part of Mother's Day weekend with me.
