Workshop: Fresh Christmas Wreath (6 December)

Eleven years of our Fresh Wreath Making Classes, and this is still my favourite ninety minutes of December.

Join me on Sunday 6 December for our traditional mingle-and-flower play session on the roof terrace at Frankie & Fern’s, Holland Village. You’ll go home with a wreath you made yourself — fresh foliage wired onto a straw base, not a kit.

No experience needed. Most people arrive having never picked up a pair of secateurs, and most come in twos, so bring someone.

I’ll take you through the wiring technique from the base up, and you’ll build your own wreath using pine branches, cones, winter foliage and flowers — fresh and dried seasonal elements together, so no two leave the table alike.

The wreath will last till Christmas as it dries nicely, so it’s perfect to hang on your door to bring the spirit of the season to your home, or paired with a candle in the middle as a centrepiece for your dinner table.

1. Basic wreath arrangement theory and introduction to wreathing tools
2. Preparing flowers and foliage
3. Wiring the wreath base
4. Designing and building the wreath using a wiring technique

All workshop materials, including a 20cm straw wreath base, branches, ingredients, tools and accessories will be provided during the workshop. You will be able to take home your beautiful wreath after the class.
